From Cape Cod to the Berkshires and all the way back to Boston, our state is home to a rich variety of state parks for families to enjoy. But not everyone is aware of these invaluable natural resources or takes advantage of the outdoor recreational opportunities that they provide.
That’s why the Department of Conservation and Recreation created the No Child Left Inside (NCLI) initiative – a fun, creative way to get Massachusetts families out in the fresh air and active in nature at state parks everywhere in the Commonwealth.
This Saturday, September 15th, No Child Left Inside is holding its latest fun-filled event, The Great Park Pursuit Finale, from 12noon to 4pm at Blackstone River and Canal Heritage State Park in Uxbridge. There’ll be a wide range of activities for everyone in the family, from hay rides to live music and even fishing. But that’s not all!
We’ll be celebrating the teams that have just completed the sixth annual summer-long run of park adventures called The Great Park Pursuit. As part of the competition, these teams designed their own “park pursuit adventures” by exploring six parks, out of the hundreds available to Massachusetts residents. To add to the fun, each team designed their own Great Park Pursuit Squirrel Mascot to take along for the ride, and documented their progress with photos and stories posted online along the way.
It’s a perfect opportunity to celebrate another successful summer of healthy, affordable, family-centered fun. We hope you can join us!
