Just because summer’s over doesn’t mean it’s time to hibernate… not just yet, anyway. This spectacular, crisp fall weather we’ve been enjoying recently is the perfect weather for being active outdoors. In fact, if you’re looking for things to do, here are some ideas:
Boston’s 6th annual Hub-On-Wheels ride is this Sunday, 9/26. There’s still time to register for either the 10 mile, 30 mile or 50 mile rides. Check out a few pictures from last year’s ride and our friend Gary’s blog post about it! Walden Pond has a series of regular hikes and other events over September and October that are worth exploring. If you’ll be in the vicinity of North Easton on October 9th and would like to see near-peak fall foliage, take the family to Borderland State Park for a Family Autumn Hike, 10-11:30am. For those of us who are more centrally located, Wachusett Mountain (and Reservoir) offers regular hikes and programs for people of all ages. And, finally, if you’re new to hiking - check out Mount Greylock’s series of “Nice and Easy Hikes” - weekly, one to two mile hikes every Wednesday at 10am, offered through the month of October.
These are just a few opportunities to be active this fall - here’s a link to more. Are there any “active” events coming up that you’d like to let people know about? Drop us a line and we’ll help you spread the word!

I have always wanted to visit Mass and take fall foliage pictures. From what I have seen this is one of the most beautiful states we have for autumn foliage.
My boys and I love to hike in the mountains and forests while taking pictures. I appreciate the insight you have given in this article and will hopefully be able to visit these trails someday soon!

Hi Ms. Mohan,
My name is Rachael Brownell and I'm Director of Outreach for PKIDs (Parents of Kids with Infectious Diseases) and I'm leaving this comment here in the hopes that you or one of your colleagues might be willing to present a webinar for us on effective uses of social media (in this case, blogs)for public health professionals, many of whom are new to social media.
Email me directly @ rachael@pkids.org if that might be a possibility for your organization. We love what you're doing here!
