Chapter four of the Health of Massachusetts gives an overview of the data held by MDPH’s Bureau of Health Care Safety and Quality. The Bureau focuses on patient safety and health care quality while working towards the goals of improving health and reducing growing health care costs.
The activities of the Bureau underscore DPH’s commitment to protecting, preserving and promoting the health of our residents. From the licensing of health care professionals such as nurses and pharmacists, to assessing nursing home utilization rates, to monitoring adverse events and injuries in hospitals, the Bureau strives to make sure that our health care providers and facilities continually provide safe and appropriate care to our residents.
