Does it seem that you’re hearing a lot more about type 2 diabetes these days than you used to? Well, that’s a good thing! There is a lot we now know about this condition, like how to control it -- and how to prevent it. While too much information can sometimes be confusing, it’s helpful if you can turn to experts who can sort it all out for you.
If you’re interested in learning more about diabetes, click here to see a video you shouldn’t miss: Diabetes: Chronic Epidemic. Produced by the Massachusetts Medical Society, the program features the Commissioner of the Massachusetts Department of Public Health, John Auerbach, as well as physicians and a certified diabetes educator. The segments not only talk about how diabetes affects people, but what can be done about the epidemic. It’s all great information -- from the importance of good nutrition and physical activity for everyone (with or without diabetes!), to getting tested and self-management of the disease.
Remember, type 2 diabetes may be prevented and controlled!
