Maya - great post. With cardio workouts, the only time I cool down is if I'm working out with someone else who does or am in a spin class where it's part of the class. If I'm running, though, I usually sprint at the end, then just stop. I try to stretch, though, so I suppose that's a cool-down in and of itself.

I've been finding lately, though, that I don't sleep as well when I work out at the end of the day as opposed to the beginning. In my 20's, it didn't bother me. But, I'm 35 now and am noticing a difference. I might try cooling down more in the evening and see if that helps (kind of signaling the end of the workout as you referenced). Anyway - I should probably stop typing and head to the gym...
