Small businesses face unique concerns when it comes to preparing for H1N1 (swine) flu. With that in mind, the CDC, Department of Homeland Security, and the Small Business Administration have recently released guidance specifically to help these businesses – typically less than 100 employees at a site - understand what impact a new flu virus like H1N1 might have on their operations – and more importantly, how to prepare in a way that minimizes the impact of those disruptions. The new guidance document provides a concrete set of tools and resources to help small business employers and staff to stay healthy and productive this flu season.

Just wondering, which influenza vaccination is more effective - the Flumist or the shot? Not sure what to give my child? ------------------------ DPH Responds: Thanks for your question. The flu shot and FluMist are equally effective; however, FluMist cannot be given to children under 2 years old, or children under 5 years old who have a history of recurrent wheezing. Be sure to talk to your pediatrician about what may be the best option for your child.
