In many cities and towns across Massachusetts, local public health and school officials are working together on various ways they might use school facilities to adminster flu vaccine to students. Yesterday, CDC released a very useful series of tools and resources to help in that planning process. There's a whole range of materials and templates here for everyone who might be involved in planning for school-based vaccination -- from state and local public health leaders, to educational staff and school nurses.
More guidance documents are expected from CDC this week, this time related to H1N1 (swine) flu planning for small businesses. Keep an eye on this space for more details.

NO THANKS,I DONT WANT BOTH OPTIONS

I PRAY THAT WHAT I HEARD ON FOX NEWS IS A MISTAKE. FOR A STATE GOVERNMENT TO FORCE PEOPLE TO GET A FLU SHOT "IS UNCONSTITUTIONAL" AND "UNAMERICAN". MY PHYSICIAN SAYS THE SWINE FLU IS ONLY TARGETING 4 YR OLD TO 21 YR OLDS! HE ALSO TOLD ME ABOUT THE SIDE AFFECTS LEAVING SOME WITH NEUROLOGICAL PERMANENT DAMAGE! BUT NO ONE IS REPORTING THAT ARE THEY? SO WHY WOULD YOUR STATE MAKE IT A LAW TO GET THIS SHOT? YOU BETTER CHECK WITH THE MEDICAL FIELD AND YOU BETTER KNOW YOU ARE TOTALLY OUT OF LINE CONSTITUTIONALLY. THIS COULD CREATE A VERY LAW SUIT. PEOPLE ARE UP IN ARMS AT THIS NEWS! ---------------------------------- DPH RESPONDS: Vaccination against seasonal and H1N1 flu is completely voluntary

Our middle school is adminstering the FluMist for regular flu. Is this what this blogpost is referring to, or a H1N1 school vaccine plan?

DPH RESPONDS: Our blog post was meant to get the word out about a series of tools to help local authorities who are interested in pursuing some type of school-located vaccination strategy. There are two ways to get the seasonal and H1N1 vaccines -- by injection or by FluMist. Many local flu clinics are offering both options.
